YouTube Response
I have different feelings towards YouTube. I believe YouTube is a great place to put music videos or funny videos, but I do not think it gives news stories enough support. YouTube is mainly used for music and therefore that is what it is best at. Funny videos are popular and many people can spend hours watching them. News stories that are published on YouTube are not very informative and can be useless. I never watch news stories from YouTube because it is easier and you can be more informed if you go to a news website.

I like the idea of having short 5 minute videos to document social issues. I think that there would have to be new ethics evolved for this because people can put whatever up but if it is going to be considered real journalism there must be some sort of ethics put into it. I don't like how the article said the journalist made the homeless man do something for the dollar that he gave him. He's a man in need and isn't on the street for the sport of youtube. Real documentaries are meant to cover whole stories and go deep into an issue and story, but in every documentary there is a smaller section that can be just as intense and if you can find something that impacts people enough to put on Youtube and get enough people to see it you can really make a change. this could create a whole new way to connect to people all over the world, but it will also be hard to regulate if things are inappropriate for children or if viewer discretion should be advised.
